2022
Summer

On July 17, 2022, Wells for Hope organized a fundraising event with popular dessert chain Melo Melo and teen influencers. In exchange for promoting Melo Melo on their social media platforms, Melo Melo donated 30% of gross profits over three days to Wells for Hope. The event raised enough money to construct two additional wells.

After arranging with the Knights of St. Mulumba, a non-profit organization (NPO) in Nigeria to handle monies sent from the United States for use in the Nigerian communities, we asked a  local NPO Kind One to act as a fiscal sponsor, so Wells For Hope could send funds to the Knights of St. Mulumba. The Knights of St. Mulumba are responsible for allocating the funds to build wells in places that desperately need clean water.

In the summer of 2022, we traveled to Igbesa Town in Nigeria to oversee the construction of the wells. We helped dig the final few meters of the well, watching as the dirty clay-colored water slowly turned into bright glistening drinking water. The townspeople's reactions were immediate: they erupted into cheers and laughter. The entire town was grateful and happy. Later that day, we visited the wells we had built three years prior and were filled with nostalgia and pride at how far we have come.
